Ms. Johnstone oversees and executes investor relations’ capital fundraising and marketing strategies and goals to effectively support the firm’s continued growth of assets under management. She also maintains and improves department operations, policies, and procedures to enhance business outcomes while working with senior management in formulating, establishing, and influencing the professional corporate image of the firm throughout all product lines.

Ms. Johnstone ensures Investor Relations staff actively engage in building relationships with current and potential investors, and within the real estate investment management consulting industry to maintain and foster investor capital growth. She also oversees and guides marketing teams to create and maintain comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations programs that promote and enhance the firm’s brands, business strategies, and objectives.

Ms. Johnstone moved into this role after leading National’s Marketing and Communications team for eight years. She was responsible for guiding the strategy of all fund and project-level marketing and communication efforts while measuring the success of these programs, aligning a diverse portfolio of work against critical business objectives to support brands, investors, and partners nationally.  Prior to joining National in 2014, she was the Director of Marketing for the Mid-Atlantic Region of Transwestern, a third- party real estate firm specializing in office leasing, property management and investment sales. During her career, Michelle has held positions at Lincoln Property Company, Imagination Stage and the Council on Culture and Arts.

Ms. Johnstone received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a minor in Communications from Florida State University, and she holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
