Mr. Kanne serves as Managing Director, Investments at National Real Estate Advisors, where he helps shape and execute the firm’s investment strategy and oversees the investment team. He is responsible for sourcing, screening, underwriting, structuring, negotiating, and closing equity and debt investments across National’s platform. Mr. Kanne also leads the development and presentation of investment recommendations to the firm’s Investment Committee and works closely with Portfolio Management and senior leadership to guide material investment decisions and capital deployment.
Since joining National in 2020, Mr. Kanne has played a significant role in advancing the firm’s investment objectives, particularly in the data center and medical office sectors. He was instrumental in the launch of the National Data Center Fund in 2021 and the growth of National’s partnership with Sabey Data Center Properties into one of the firm’s largest investment platforms, including the recent investment by Ares Secondaries. He also helped establish and expand National’s medical office investment program. Mr. Kanne is recognized for his disciplined investment approach, rigorous analysis, and commitment to delivering strong outcomes for investors and stakeholders.
Prior to joining National, Mr. Kanne was an Investment Banking Vice President in the Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging Group at BofA Merrill Lynch in New York, advising public and private real estate companies on strategic transactions and capital markets initiatives. His experience spans acquisitions, debt and equity investing, portfolio strategy, and transaction execution.
Mr. Kanne holds a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance and Real Estate from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English from Elon University.
