Portland’s Newest Office Building Blurs Lines Between Workspace and Nature

The new home to several of Portland’s fastest-growing technology and creative services companies, Field Office opened June 13, 2018 in Portland’s Frontside District

Portland, Ore. (June 13, 2018) – Field Office, a pair of new office buildings in Northwest Portland designed to help connect people with nature and community, officially opened on Wednesday. The development, a joint venture between National Real Estate Advisors, LLC (National) and Portland-based project^, will be home to some of the city’s fastest-growing companies, including Ampere Computing, Adpearance, and The Good.

In May, Field Office became the first building in Portland to sponsor a station for BIKETOWN, the city’s popular bike share system. The new station extends BIKETOWN’s reach into Northwest Portland’s emerging Frontside District, a neighborhood that includes Olympia Provisions, Smith Teamaker, Ristretto Roasters, Schoolhouse Electric, and now Field Office.

“Field Office was built for companies growing beyond ‘start-up mode,’ offering organizations the environment and amenities that reflect their culture of innovation,” said Jonathan Ledesma, partner at project^. “We’re excited to officially open the doors at Field Office and share a space that will help amplify the Frontside District’s identity as a magnet for technology and creative services companies.”

Field Office’s 300,000 square feet of office and retail space make it one of the state’s largest real estate investments in the past decade. Designed by Portland-based Hacker Architects, Field Office breaks down the barriers that exist in traditional downtown office space, connecting people to the environment. Its ground floor gardens and pavilions, High Parks, and Sky Parks integrate the landscape into the buildings and bring work spaces outdoors.

Field Office’s tenants include Ampere Computing, a designer and builder of cloud computing processors; Adpearance, a full-service digital marketing agency; The Good, an ecommerce company that helps brands convert more of their existing website visitors into buyers; and The Children’s Garden, a locally-owned early childhood learning center.

“At Ampere, we are taking a fresh approach to designing and building processors that will support the future of cloud computing,” said Ampere CFO & COO Chi Miller. “We are expanding our talent and need a work space that fosters collaboration and innovation. Field Office’s vision for the development inside and outside the buildings, the variety of transportation options, and the amenities like onsite child care, struck a chord with us right away. We are already seeing prospective talent highlight the remarkable space as a factor in joining Ampere.”

Jeff Kanne, National’s President and CEO, said: “Field Office fits our investment parameters for developing transformative, cutting edge projects in the nation’s most dynamic urban markets and submarkets. This development promises to attract leading companies looking to avail themselves of the most innovative design and vanguard office amenities.”

Field Office is the first investment in Oregon for National Real Estate Advisors.
