Since 2017, Mr. Compton has represented National Real Estate Advisors within the United States electrical industry, with particular emphasis on the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (“IBEW”), the National Electrical Contractors Association (“NECA”), and funds associated with the electrical industry.
As a well-respected member of the IBEW-NECA community, Mike assists National’s President and CEO with organizing, planning and leading new business development initiatives, including strengthening long-term relationships with clients and investors, industry influencers, key strategic partners and all of the company’s stakeholders. He also makes recommendations regarding labor relations issues and the implementation of National’s Responsible Contracting policy.
Mike has over 36 years of electrical union experience. Before joining National, Mike worked at Local 153 in South Bend, IN, where he served as Business Manager and Financial Secretary, overseeing the administration of membership, benefits, and financial management and public relations functions. Additionally, Mike was the primary liaison with the National IBEW organization where he conducted ongoing business development initiatives, managed local organizing campaigns and contract negotiations. He also served as the Assistant Business Manager and President of IBEW Local 153, where he managed the Pension and Healthcare plans, appointed numerous committee members, identified potential groups for union participation, handled membership issues and grievances, and investigated and presented issues for arbitration. Prior to joining the IBEW, Mike worked for Herrman & Goetz, Inc. and D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman, MI as Journeyman Electrician, Foreman and Project Supervisor.
Mr. Compton holds an Associate of Applied Science in Apprenticeship/Electrician from Ivy Tech Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Labor Studies from Indiana University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
