Washington, DC ─ September 22, 2022 ─ Michelle Johnstone has been named Managing Director, Investor Relations at National Real Estate Advisors, LLC (National). She will oversee and execute investor relations’ capital fundraising and marketing strategies and goals to effectively support the firm’s continued growth of assets under management. She will also maintain and improve department operations, policies, and procedures to enhance business outcomes while working with senior management in formulating, establishing, and influencing the professional corporate image of the firm throughout all product lines.
The announcement was made today by Jeffrey Kanne, President and CEO of National. The company specializes in a “Build-to-Core” investment strategy.
Ms. Johnstone moves into her new role after directing National’s marketing and communications team for eight years. She was responsible for guiding the strategy of all fund and project-level marketing and communication efforts while measuring the success of these programs, aligning a diverse portfolio of work against critical business objectives to support brands, investors, and partners nationally.

By leading the investor relations and marketing efforts at National, Michelle will oversee the growth of our team as we look to expand our offerings to clients in the coming years.”
Before joining National in 2014, Ms. Johnstone was the Director of Marketing for the Mid-Atlantic Region of Transwestern, a third- party real estate firm specializing in office leasing, property management, and investment sales. At Transwestern, Ms. Johnstone directed marketing efforts for various service lines, focusing on branding and public relations. During her career, Ms. Johnstone has held positions at Lincoln Property Company, Imagination Stage and the Council on Culture and Arts.
She graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a minor in Communications and holds a Master of Business Administration from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. She is a member of Commercial Real Estate Women, Commercial Real Estate Marketing, and the Urban Land Institute.
