Michael Compton

Director, Investor Relations - Electrical Industry Liaison
 

Mr. Compton is responsible for the representation of National Real Estate Advisors, LLC within the United States Electrical Industry, with particular emphasis on the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (“IBEW”), the National Electrical Contractors Association (“NECA”), and funds associated with the electrical industry.

As a well-respected member of the IBEW-NECA community, Mr. Compton assists National’s President and the Managing Director, Investor Relations with organizing, planning and leading new business development initiatives and communicating with current and prospective electrical industry-related clients and investors. He also makes recommendations regarding labor relations issues and the implementation of National’s Responsible Contracting policy.

With over 36 years of electrical union experience, Mr. Compton comes to National from Local 153 in South Bend, IN, where he served as Business Manager and Financial Secretary, overseeing the administration of membership, benefits, and financial management and public relations functions. Additionally, Mr. Compton was the primary liaison with the National IBEW organization and was responsible for conducting ongoing business development initiatives, managed local organizing campaigns and contract negotiations. He also served as the Assistant Business Manager and also President of IBEW Local 153 where he was responsible for managing the Pension and Healthcare plans, appointed numerous committee members, identified potential groups for union participation, was directly involved in membership issues and grievances, and investigated and presented issues for arbitration. Prior to joining the IBEW, Mr. Compton worked for Herrman & Goetz, Inc. and D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman, MI and held positions as Journeyman Electrician, Foreman and Project Supervisor. 

Mr. Compton holds a Bachelor of Science in Labor Studies from Indiana University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and an Associate of Applied Science in Apprenticeship Technology/Electrician from Ivy Tech Community College.
