Freeport-McMoRan Center

Central Park East

Phoenix, Arizona

National's investment in Freeport-McMoRan Center (formerly Central Park East) is at the forefront of private redevelopment efforts in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.  Downtown now boasts two major sports venues, a new convention center, a new downtown campus of Arizona State University, and it is the hub of a regional light-rail system which completed construction in 2009.  This amenity base has encouraged the construction of high-rise residential, commercial and hotel projects, which are transforming the downtown area.  Delivered in late 2009, Freeport-McMoRan Center is the most technically and aesthetically advanced office building in the Valley of the Sun.  It was, in fact, featured in  Best Tall Buildings of 2010 by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The project serves as the corporate headquarters of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, the world's largest publicly traded copper mining company and downtown Phoenix's signature Fortune 500 tenant.  The project also includes The Westin Phoenix Downtown, a 242-room business class hotel - the first true luxury hotel offering in downtown Phoenix.  In 2011,The Westin Phoenix Downtown was named one of the Top Ten New U.S. Hotels by Gayot. Future phases may include additional office space, residential, retail or a component of the new ASU Downtown Campus.

Best Tall Buildings 2010 is published by Routledge.
